Boston YMCAs offer free classes in March

To help Bostonians beat the late-winter blues, Mayor Thomas M. Menino kicked off four weeks of free classes at YMCA locations across the city. The partnership is part of Boston Moves for Health, Menino’s initiative to improve the health and wellness of Boston residents. Throughout the month of March, the YMCA of Greater Boston will support two-dozen free classes – everything from boxing to Zumba, and even a class for seniors. Boston’s rich expected to donate large sums

Despite an enormous loss of wealth during the Great Recession, Boston-area families and estates are expected to donate a massive sum to charities over the next half century, perhaps eclipsing $1 trillion, according to a new study commissioned by the Boston Foundation. The report, based on research by Boston College’s Center on Wealth and Philanthropy, found that the recent recession erased about $350 billion in assets that were likely to flow to charities by 2061. Greater Springfield Amtrak ridership up, rail boosters prep for new stations …

Hub businesses should make energy conservation their goal
