Joseph J. Giuffrida, 83, resident of Dorchester

Joseph J. Giuffrida of Dorchester, a retired music instructor and musician, died Monday at Carney Hospital in Dorchester. He was 83. Born in Boston, Mr. Giuffrida moved to Dorchester in 1946. Mr. Giuffrida served in the Massachusetts National Guard. He was a music instructor in the Greater Boston area for more than 40 years. Husband of the late Theresa, Mr. Giuffrida is survived by a daughter, Maria Alcala-Herrera of Texas; two sisters, Rose of Dorchester and Josephine Harney of Roslindale; two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. RTAs strike back at T-only funding

State lawmakers outside Greater Boston, backed up by increasingly irate transit riders in their districts, are exerting a newfound assertiveness so they can get more of the state dollars that they say should be coming to them.  The 2012 bailout signals the end of the line for MBTA budget fixes that come at the expense of regional mass transit. YMCA moves English classes to Government Center

By Boston.com Beginning in July, the YMCA of Greater Boston will move its English for Speakers of Other Languages program from its historic Huntington Avenue branch to a new location in Government Center. Partnership to provide meals to low-income Brookline seniors
