Spike in pending home, condo sales could fuel Mass. housing rebound

Greater Boston, the South Shore, and northeast regions of Massachusetts registered the largest number of pending single-family home and condo sales in October, according to the Massachusetts Association of Realtors. Single-family home pending sales, or those with signed purchase and sales agreements, were up nearly 36 percent across the state in October compared to the same month last year, while condos were up 43.5 percent compared to October 2011. Boston area’s small businesses cautious, but optimistic

Small-business owners are cautiously optimistic about the coming year in Greater Boston, with most anticipating increased sales and many expecting to hire more workers, according to a Bank of America survey to be released Thursday. More than half of the Boston-area small businesses that were polled said they expect revenues to grow in 2013, while 9 percent believe revenue will shrink. Nearly one in four plans to hire more workers, while 2 percent plan to cut staff.
