O’Hare delays could continue beyond Sandy

Bostonian Craig Taylor loves his New England Patriots so much he flew to London to see them play the St. Louis Rams Sunday. The Patriots won, but now Taylor is cooling his heels in Chicago Bears territory, having flown here after Hurricane Sandy caused the cancellation of his Boston-bound flight along with thousands of others to the East Coast. “It’s been a comedy of errors,” Taylor said, laughing, as he tried to figure out his next step from O’Hare International Airport Monday. It was a relatively light day at O’Hare, and that’s expected to continue Continue reading >>>

Boston Forecast: ‘It’s Just Going To Go Crazy Around These Parts’

As of 5 p.m., the storm was located about 345 miles due south of Cape Hatteras, N.C. It’s moving northeast at about 13 miles per hour. It will continue to move northeast for the next 24 hours, but by midday on Monday it’s going to start to turn left. That means the old left hook is coming, which is going to bring it into southern New Jersey by late Monday night. There’s still some variance in some of the computer models, but I’m thinking the storm moves northeast, cuts up about 100, 150 miles south of Block Island, and then takes as sharp hook, moving south of Block Island right into the Continue reading >>>

Boston teacher Liz Byron is really going the extra mile for her students—155 extra miles to be exact. In April 2013 Byron plans to run what's considered the world's most difficult race, the Marathon de Sable, through Morocco's section of the Sahara Desert. Runners carry their own food and supplies, "endure 120 degree heat, sand storms, and run between 26 and 50 miles a day." She's putting herself through such an extreme race to raise $50,000 to purchase a set of laptops for her sixth grade class at Gardner Pilot Academy in Boston. Right now Byron's students have just four laptops to use, which Continue reading >>>
