Newton Road Closures for Sunday’s Walk for Hunger

Project Bread's 2012 Walk for Hunger is just a couple of days away, and those heading through Greater Boston could hit a bit of traffic while they're out and about on Sunday. Sunday's walk is a 20-mile route that passes through Boston, Brookline, Newton, Watertown and Cambridge. More than 40,000 people will participate in the event, which kicks off at 9 a.m. on Boston Common. The MBTA provides free rides to anyone traveling with a walk guide or online registration certificate between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. Sunday. Solar expansionMARLBORO —  Solar expansion b, a company that sells solar power to homeowners and businesses, is expanding in Marlboro. The company moved its operations in Billerica and Raynham to Marlboro, where it has doubled its warehouse space. Local groups hold vigil for slain BU student

The school held a memorial service for Rao on May 4 in BU School of Management Auditorium. Friends of Rao spoke at the event, which was attended by students, the Boston University India Club, as well as school staff. Rao was found dead in the early morning on April 19 lying in the street in Allston, a part of Boston, about one mile from the BU campus. According to reports, Rao was shot in the head and leg and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Boston Police Department and the Boston University Police Department are investigating the incident. Westwood hangs a loss on Winchester

If there was a team poised to put an end to Winchester’s undefeated girls lacrosse season, it was Westwood. The Wolverines did just that, recording a 17-9 nonleague win at Knowlton Stadium in Winchester yesterday. Sophomore midfielder Ela Hazar and senior mid Kate Rich led the Wolverines (10-1) with five goals apiece. But it was senior co-captain Laura McHoul who made Westwood’s offense tick, scoring two goals and recording seven assists while mainly patrolling the area behind the Winchester goal.
