Mass. gas prices jump 3 cents per gallon

Bay State gas prices continued to rise this week with a three-cent increase, according to AAA Southern New England. Self-serve, regular unleaded gas in Massachusetts is currently averaging $3.76 per gallon, eight cents higher than a month ago. The current price is 13 cents below the national average for self-serve, unleaded gas of $3.89. The average gas price a year ago statewide was $3.46, AAA said. Self-serve, midgrade unleaded gas is up four cents to $3.90. Premium unleaded has topped $4 at $4.01 a gallon, while diesel rose two cents this week to $4.18.
