5 Things Declan Porter Should Have Done With His $30K From Victoria Grayson

Our favorite Bostonian and his floppy hair just came into some major dolla dolla billz, ya’ll. After conning Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) into giving him a $30k payoff in exchange for breaking up with Charlotte (Christa Allen), Declan (Connor Paolo) tore up the check in a fit of manly angst – but let’s take a second to pretend he’s still a few thousand flush. What should have Declan done with his payout (aside from getting an expensive haircut to save those limp locks of love)? 1. Get a Dialect Coach Not to be awkward, but Declan is working a full-blown Boston accent and everyone else just Continue reading >>>

Coyotes set to honor Tkachuk on Friday night

Shane Doan has been captain of the Phoenix Coyotes for eight years, longer than anyone in franchise history. But ask him about "Captain Coyote," and Doan will start talking about Keith Tkachuk. Mark Messier, Steve Yzerman, Ray Bourque and Bobby Clarke are on the short list of the NHL's most revered captains, but no one enjoyed wearing the "C" more than Tkachuk – the brash Bostonian bull in a china shop who played hockey with the same approach. There were few filters -- and no excuses. What you saw was what you got -- and what the Coyotes got was one of the best power forwards of his era and a Continue reading >>>

Traditional social networks fueled Twitter’s spread

Cambridge (US), Dec.22 (ANI): Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) researchers who studied the growth of Twitter from 2006 to 2009 say the site’s growth in the United States actually relied primarily on media attention and traditional social networks based on geographic proximity and socioeconomic similarity. In other words, at least during those early years, birds of a feather flocked – and tweeted – together. In their study of Twitter’s “contagion process,” the researchers looked at data from 16,000 U.S. cities, focusing on the 408 with the highest number of Twitter users Continue reading >>>

Suffolk Downs as casino site drawing mixed reaction

As Suffolk Downs prepares to compete for a license to bring a casino to its racetrack in Revere and East Boston, the plan is so far drawing a mixed response from some of the area’s top municipal leaders. In an informal survey, three current or incoming mayors voiced support or a preference for licensing a casino at the Revere-East Boston track, a proposal that already enjoys the enthusiastic backing of Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino. But 13 other area leaders took no firm position on whether Suffolk Downs should be chosen as the site of the license that is being Continue reading >>>
