It's no secret to any Bostonian: riding the T can be frustrating. Not uncommonly, the train or bus shrieks into the station (late), packed and smelly. But sometimes that's not the worst of it. Aside from the patience it takes to cope with the T's systemic challenges, other riders can fray the strongest nerves.
You know who I'm talking about. The people who hijack your mental space with a loud retelling of their visit to the doctor; the phone screamers; the spitters; the litterers; the stinky-food eaters.
