Greater Boston YMCA lowers membership costs

Fox, Town Correspondent To mark the beginning of 2012, the YMCA of Greater Boston is reducing fees for adult memberships at all of its 13 branches around the city and neighboring suburbs. Prices are down as much as 15 percent, ranging from a $50 monthly rate for adults aged 30 – 64 at the Waltham and Oak Square branches to $30 for adults at the Dorchester and Roxbury locations. Westborough Building Leased

Children’s Workshop, a day-care, has agreed to rent 6,124 square-feet of space in a single-story Westborough building at 6 Bellows Rd., according to the broker involved in the transaction.

Children’s Workshop will lease the space from Realty Income, a real estate investment trust with holdings in 49 states.

Bret O’Brien of Greater Boston Commercial Properties represented Realty Income while Eric Brosler of Metrowest Commercial Real Estate represented Children’s Workshop.


Office construction makes comeback

Construction of office buildings is picking up pace in Greater Boston, with the growth of biotechnology companies helping revive a market that all but disappeared in the depths of the recent economic downturn. The amount of office space under construction rose to 1.6 million square feet in the area during the last three months of the year, an eightfold increase from the low the market hit at the beginning of 2011, according to the Boston commercial real estate firm Richards Barry Joyce Partners. Housing planned along Salem canal

SALEM — A Beverly developer has filed plans to build a 141-apartment complex along the North River canal. MRM Project Management hopes to develop the former Salem Oil Grease factory, one of the last vestiges of Blubber Hollow, which was a historic tannery district and industrial site for more than 200 years.
