Emily’s List: Bob Lobel & Susan Wornick

For the next few months, as I wind down my duties here on Greater Boston, I’m going to be talking with a select group of people we’ve had on the show before, people with unique skills and perspectives who have elevated the discourse of the show. We’re calling it the Greater Boston version of "Emily’s List." Susan Wornick anchored the midday news at Channel 5 for 25 years and was the station’s consumer reporter to boot. Bob Lobel was WBZ TV’s sports anchor for more than 20 years, traveling the country to follow Boston teams. The two were a team themselves, married for some time in Continue reading >>>

Is Somerville Really the Next Cambridge?

For locals whose ideal Saturday involves re-reading “Infinite Jest,” listening to alt-J, and sipping an Americano out of a delightfully mismatched mug, a decision must be made: Cambridge or Somerville? In Boston, a good fall buyers market, but low inventory

Cooler weather in September not only brought a swift end to summer, but according to some reports, the unseasonal cold snap cooled the home sales market, too. Normally, once summer holidays are done, the market picks up mid-September through early November, in a last hurrah of buying and selling. Did the chilly air kill the Greater Boston market?“Well, yes and no,” says Realtor Susan Piracini of RE/MAX Leading Edge of Back Bay. “There was a cooling in the market and we did have a slow September, and some of that was weather related. But, overall, it was more a reaction to the red-hot crazy Continue reading >>>
