RCN, the overbuilder that provides triple-play service in parts of the Northeast, looks to have faster Internet service than some of the country’s largest cable operators -- at least according to one source. In the Greater Boston market, Netflix found that RCN’s average speed of 2.42 Mbps topped second-place Charter Communications (2.19) by 11% in the April-June period.The Boston rundown was Netflix’s first regional ranking of Internet service providers (ISPs). “It’s almost like a farmers’ market,” David Colfer says. Boston Labor Council endorses McGovern for Cambridge City Council

The Committee to Elect Marc McGovern announced that McGovern has received the endorsement of the Greater Boston Labor Council, representing 154 different unions in 24 communities, including Cambridge. India Day to take place Sunday in Andover

The India Association of Greater Boston is scheduled to celebrate India Day 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept 8, at the Collins Center, Andover High School, 80 Shawsheen Road. MassDevelopment, the state’s finance and development agency, said it invested $2.3 billion in Massachusetts businesses, nonprofits, and communities during the fiscal year that ended June 30. By MassDevelopment’s count, it funded 317 projects that will support the creation of 2,021 jobs across the state.
